About the Founder


Barbara Welch has dedicated her professional efforts to helping people achieve financial
success for over a decade.

As a Financial Educator, Barbara partners with employers to provide objective and practical personal financial management training and coaching to their employees. Her firm also offers financial education and planning services to individual clients.

As a result of her commitment to offer helpful and practical tools and information she has developed a values-based workshop and coaching method called thegoodlife financial workshop and thegoodlife financial coaching program. Barbara also speaks and facilitates workshops at conferences and events. As a strong advocate for financial literacy, Barbara is a member of the national organization Jumpstart coalition for financial literacy and has developed an after school financial literacy program called good life Money Club for students k-12 and has been a contributing financial writer to several publications.

thegoodlife Financial was established as thegoodlife Workshop in 2001 as a result of Barbara's professional experiences in the financial services industry since 1990, as well as her personal journey to overcome her money management problems after a failed business in 1999. As a financial educator, Barbara leverages her past experiences to assist others achieve the good life, by not simply instructing, but rather guiding, inspiring and giving courage and strength to open the doors to a different perspective.

Barbara Welch, a licensed financial professional, is president of The Good Life Financial Inc. She served as co-founder and Vice-President of Generations Products Inc., from 1997-2000, and she served as Officer and Branch Manager for Old Kent Bank & Trust Co. from 1990-1997. Barbara earned a Master of Science degree from the College for Financial Planning, in Greenwood, CO and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and Finance from Howard University in Washington D.C. in 1990.

Barbara resides in Grand Rapids, MI with her husband Skot and their two children, Brandon
and Brooks.
